A Uni-Mart on Brownsville Road in Carrick was damaged after a hit-and-run involving a Mercedes sedan early on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020.

Pittsburgh police are investigating a theft from a Carrick convenience store that was damaged in a hit-and-run earlier this week, according to Pittsburgh police.

Officers went to the Uni-Mart in the 1900 block of Brownsville Road just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday in response to a reported theft.

Police said a clerk told officers that a man came into the store, broke into a type of coin or game machine with a hammer and took the cash inside.

The man fled the scene.

The clerk and customers were not hurt, police said.

The convenience store had been damaged around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, when a car described as a black, four-door Mercedes sedan drove into the front of the store, damaging its doors and windows and shattering glass. The driver then backed up and fled.

No one was hurt in that incident.
