Pittsburgh woman charged with kidnapping baby
A woman kidnapped a baby from a Homewood home Wednesday night, according to court paperwork filed by Pittsburgh police.
Police quickly found the 1-year-old girl and arrested the accused kidnapper, Nayshell Sly, 27, of Pittsburgh.
The abduction was reported around 8 p.m. Thursday.
A babysitter told police that Sly had been repeatedly calling her, asking to take the child despite being repeatedly told she could not.
Police did not
The babysitter went to the store, leaving her 14-year-old daughter in charge of he baby, the affidavit said.
That’s when Sly allegedly came to the home and took the baby.
Police were able to track Sly’s phone and pulled over her SUV on the Birmingham Bridge before 9:30 p.m.
There were two adults and four children in the vehicle, including the baby girl.
The baby was taken to the hospital to be checked but was in good health, according to police.
The baby’s mother told police that Sly did not have permission to take the child, according to the affidavit.
Sly is charged with kidnapping, burglary and interference with custody of children.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 8.
