A Pittsburgh man pleaded guilty in federal court in Wednesday to conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Lawrence Morrison, 36, entered the plea before Senior U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab in Pittsburgh.
According to prosecutors, the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration started a wiretap investigation, primarily targeting the GBK street gang and drug trafficking in and around an area known as the Greenway Projects, located in Pittsburgh’s West End.
The wiretap investigation, dubbed Operation Gang Green, revealed that from about November 2017 to last June, Lawrence Morrison and his co-conspirators distributed unspecified quantities of cocaine.
Judge Schwab scheduled Morrison’s sentencing for June 19.
Morrison remains in jail.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tonya Sulia Goodman and Rachael Dizard are prosecuting this case.
The FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration jointly led the investigation, which also included Pittsburgh Police, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, state police, Robinson and Stowe township police departments, state Attorney General’s Office, Wilkinsburg and McKees Rocks police.
The investigation was funded by the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program.
