Trumpeter Sean Jones will be among artists featured in the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival Live Online, streaming June 20.

The first-ever Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival Live Online will feature noted jazz musicians from around the world, including Sean Jones, Dianne Reeves, The Bad Plus, Laurin Talese, Jeff Watts, Brett Williams, Lakecia Benjamin and others.

The one-time-only virtual event, curated by the August Wilson African American Cultural Center in collaboration with Jones, will stream at noon Saturday on the center’s website and Facebook pages.

To mark what would have been the 10th anniversary of the Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival in June, the event also will include a live performance by local Pittsburgh artists, special tributes and a look back at archival interviews and footage from the festival’s first 10 years.

The Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival was created in 2011 AWAACC President and CEO Janis Burley Wilson, who also curates.

In response to the covid-19 pandemic, organizers decided to postpone this year’s festival until June 2021 to ensure the health and well-being of staff, audiences and artists, according to a release.
