The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust announced the upcoming films that will be screened at Downtown’s Harris Theater.
Programming at the Liberty Avenue theater was suspended late last month when the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media, which handled screenings at Harris through its Pittsburgh Filmmakers arm, had extensive cuts and layoffs.
The theater is owned and operated by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, which said days after the screenings were suspended that the theater would remain open at least through the end of the year.
The Harris Theater will show “Mickey and the Bear” from Friday to Dec. 12. The film is a coming-of-age tale about a teenage girl who navigates a volatile relationship with her veteran father.
“Skin” will be shown at 9 p.m. from Friday to Dec. 12. A tattooed white supremacist reforms his life after falling in love, but saying goodbye to his former life isn’t an easy process. It features betrayal of a gang and work alongside the FBI to remove the body ink that has represented the character’s identity for so long, as well as the burden of his past crimes.
The theater will screen “In Fabric” at 3, 6 and 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 and 15, and at 8 p.m. from Dec. 16 to Dec. 19. The movie is about a lonely British woman, recently separated from her husband, who visiting a bewitching London department store and buys a haunted dress.
An exclusive to Pittsburgh screening of “Waves” will show at 8 p.m. Dec, 20 and Dec. 23-26, and at 3, 6 and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 21 and Dec. 22. The film is set against the South Florida landscape and depicts an emotional journey of a suburban African-American family as they navigate love, forgiveness and coming together in the aftermath of a loss.
