Miss the Log Jammer? Think taking it down was the worst thing Kennywood could have ever done — before the Potato Patch cheese and ketchup controversies this year?
The West Mifflin amusement park has given one of its old Log Jammer vehicles to “Give Kids the World,” a nonprofit that provides free, week-long vacations to critically ill kids and their families at its resort in central Florida.
The vehicle is being auctioned on eBay. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the charity.
The “log flume,” as it’s called, was used before the ride was closed in 2017, according to the auction. It’s being sold “as-is.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, the auction had attracted 36 bids and the price was up to $2,550.
The auction has more than a week left, and is scheduled to end at 10:46 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16.
According to the auction, the winner will be able to pick it up at Kennywood.
This will be the second log from The Log Jammer to be auctioned. The first went for $5,600 at an auction during an American Coaster Enthusiasts event at Kennywood in July, Kennywood spokesman Nick Paradise said.
“We’re interested to see if we can top it,” he said.
Most of the Log Jammer vehicles are in storage, although one is on display in the park’s entrance plaza for pictures, Paradise said. Some were sent to sister parks — Idlewild & SoakZone in Ligonier and Lake Compounce in Connecticut — where they’re being used in similar log flume rides.
