Crews work to fix two water main breaks on Cochran Road in front of Mt. Lebanon High School early on Thursday, March 28, 2019. The high school, which was closed Wednesday, will be open Thursday.

Mt. Lebanon High School will be open for students and staff Thursday while crews continue work to fix water main breaks near the school.

The school was closed Wednesday because of the two water main breaks on Cochran Road. Water service has been restored to the school, according to the district.

One of the breaks occurred in a 16-inch line at Cochran Road and Lebanon Avenue, a spokesperson for Pennsylvania American Water told the Trib’s news partner, WPXI. The second break was in a 6-inch line at Cochran Road and Royce Avenue.

Pennsylvania American Water announced Thursday morning on its Facebook page that repairs are complete and service is returning to customers.

The company said its crews “experienced complications” while making repairs on Wednesday. A water tanker was made available at the CVS parking lot on Cochran Road.

The company advised customers to let their water run for a few minutes before using if it’s cloudy or discolored.

“We thank our customers for their patience throughout this repair and apologize for any inconveniences,” the company said.

Because the school was closed Wednesday, the district said that the district tiered band concert and rehearsal will take palce on Thursday. The concert will be held as scheduled at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
