Pittsburgh police tweeted and posted to Facebook photos Thursday, May 2, 2019, of the department’s first-ever comfort dog, Zane. The dog will be used for peer support, critical incidents, and community outreach. Zane is Hebrew for “gift and prayed for.”

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police has a new canine companion.

The bureau on Thursday welcomed Zane, its first comfort dog for peer support, critical incidents and community outreach, on its social media pages.
