A light pole outside the Chevron Science Center at the University of Pittsburgh fell to the ground Friday, striking a male student, a spokesman said.

The student was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, said Pitt spokesman Kevin Zwick.

The incident occurred at the corner of University Drive and Parkman Avenue.

“We’re still gathering more information,” Zwick said in an email. He said the incident occurred Friday afternoon, but did not provide an exact time.
