No students were aboard a school bus involved in a multi-vehicle crash on inbound Route 28 just past the 40th Street Bridge on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.

No one was hurt in a crash involving an empty school bus that closed inbound Route 28 on Wednesday during the morning rush hour.

Millvale police Chief Tim Komoroski said six vehicles including an ABC Transit bus with only the driver inside were involved in the crash.

It happened about 6:30 a.m. near the 40th Street Bridge in Millvale. Komoroski wouldn’t comment on what caused the crash.

Two vehicles and the school bus were heavily damaged, Komoroski said. The others were driven from the scene.

The road was reopened about 7:30 a.m., but traffic was snarled on Route 28 because of the accident, plus another one near the Highland Park Bridge that state police responded to. Details about that crash weren’t immediately available.
