Food bank hosting distribution at PPG Paints Arena
The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will hold a drive-up food distribution Friday at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
Organizers plans to serve 1,300 vehicles between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the parking lots adjacent to the arena. The event is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Police.
“We’re proud to partner with them for this distribution and grateful for their help with ensuring all of our neighbors in need of food assistance are able to get it,” Lisa Scales, president and CEO of the food bank, said in a statement.
No walk-ups will be permitted. Police will be providing traffic control.
Traffic should enter the lots using Centre Avenue.
People will not be allowed to leave their cars while they wait for the food to be distributed.
People will receive two boxes of dry, non-perishable food per car regardless of the number of families or groups in the vehicle. It is enough food for more than 40 meals.
Those who need help and don’t have a vehicle should visit the food bank’s website for more information about other ways to get food.
