Firefighters were able to prevent fire from spreading to nearby homes after a blaze broke out in an abandoned building in Wilkinsburg late Monday night.
The fire at the home in the 8000 block of Susquehanna Street was reported at around 10:15 p.m., according to a department of public safety spokesman.
The first crews to arrive found the second and third floors of the three-story home engulfed in flames. A second alarm was sounded shortly before 11 p.m.
It took about 45 minutes for the heaviest flames to be extinguished, according to Battalion Chief Dan Herr. Firefighters remained on the scene to douse hot spots until after midnight.
One firefighter was treated for a minor hand injury.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshall is investigating.
