A fire broke out in a row house alongside an alleyway in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

No one was injured, initial reports indicate.

Authorities received a report of the fire on 44th Street shortly before 5 p.m., an Allegheny County 911 shift commander said.

Medics responded but did not take anyone to a hospital, the shift commander said.

Cara Brack lives just yards down the street from the row house that caught fire.

She heard loud popping sounds that prompted her to look outside. When she saw the flames, she rushed out of the house.

“(The alley) is so small, and I was afraid it was going to spread very quickly,” she said.

Brack said the fire prompted neighbors in the small, narrow alley to check on each other.

“Everybody that was in this alley is really close together,” she said. “Everybody came out and was making sure everyone was OK, knocking on doors, getting people out.”

The fire reached three alarms before firefighters knocked it out.

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and Public Safety officials are investigating. A spokesperson could not immediately be reached for comment.
