Pittsburgh police charged an East Hills woman with child endangerment after investigators observed a video on social media of her two toddlers wandering the neighborhood unattended and improperly clothed.

Tevanna Keith, 22, was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the incident Tuesday.

Officers from the city’s Zone 5 station went to a home in the 2300 block of East Hills Drive about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday to do a welfare check on the children after a video circulating on Facebook showed an unidentified woman encounter the 2- and 3-year-old children walking around the neighborhood without shoes and wearing few items of clothing, police said.

The woman drove the children to a security office. Police say that when Keith arrived at the office, she slapped the older child on the side of the head and took the children away.

Police went to Keith’s home several times during the day and evening, but no one answered the door.

An arrest warrant was issued for Keith on Tuesday, and she was taken into custody near her home the following day and charged.

The children also were located and were in good health with no apparent injuries.

Keith was released on a non-monetary bond and is scheduled for a March 25 preliminary hearing on the charges.
