A Duquesne man convicted in September of supplying drugs that resulted in the 2017 fatal overdose of a Clairton man was sentenced Wednesday to up to 14 years in prison.
Tyree Saunders, 27, was sentenced by Allegheny County Judge David Cashman for the March 22, 2017, overdose death of Jeremy Clark, also 27.
Saunders was convicted of supplying the fentanyl that was sold as heroin to Clark.
The case was the first where a jury convicted someone of the charge of drug delivery resulting in death since a 2011 change in state law allowed the charge to be filed even if the intent wasn’t to kill someone, Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Mike Manko has said.
