A prisoner who killed a Carnegie woman 25 years ago was found dead in his cell Sunday, according to the state Department of Corrections.

Prison employees at the State Correctional Institution in Greene County were making their rounds when they found Jake Wesley, 51, unresponsive in his cell around 11:30 p.m.

State police are investigating, and the Greene County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy ato determine the cause of death.

Wesley had been at SCI Greene since 1996.

He was serving a life sentence for the 1994 rape and murder of Susan Jill Creighton, 35, of Carnegie, who was his upstairs neighbor at the time.

Wesley broke into Creighton’s apartment, beat her with a baseball bat, bound her and cut her throat.
