Closed stretch of Nadine Road reopens earlier than expected in Penn Hills
A section of Nadine Road in Penn Hills that has been closed since a collapse in July has reopened to traffic, Allegheny County Public Works announced Wednesday.
Nadine between Allegheny River Boulevard and Lincoln Road closed on July 12 after storms caused a retaining wall to fall over and part of the road to collapse.
Work began Aug. 20. Crews removed the damaged wall, excavated, built a new retaining wall, relocated utilities and made roadway and drainage repairs.

In October, the department said the road would be closed until the end of December, citing an unanticipated design delay and the need to address utility locations. No explanation for the earlier reopening was given.
Northeast Paving did the work as part of a $10.7 million road reconstruction contract.
