Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh officials have ordered parishes to cease all fish fries to help combat the coronavirus outbreak.
“As a clarification of a previous announcement regarding the cancellation of all parish activities in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, fish fries and the Stations of the Cross are to be cancelled effective immediately,” officials said via news release Tuesday.
The diocese had suspended Masses as of Monday. All first communions and first reconciliations, as well as all scheduled confirmations in March have been postponed.
“My main priority and consideration with these decisions is for the safety and well-being of our priests, deacons, parishioners, and, indeed, the whole community,” Bishop David Zubik said.
Officials said weddings and funerals may proceed with limited attendance. Baptisms were also permitted outside of Mass.
