The owners of Bulldog Pub in Morningside will reopen Friday after closing when an employee tested positive for covid-19.

Bulldog Pub closed on July 7 after a server tested positive for the virus.

Owner and General Manager Jesse DiRenzo said the facility was sanitized during the closure. All of their employees were tested, and all came back negative.

The server who tested positive for coronavirus will be getting tested again next week, following the recommended quarantine. She’ll be able to return to work as early as next week, pending a negative test result.

Bulldog Pub has an outdoor patio for on-site service. Delivery and takeout options will resume. Indoor dining is prohibited at all restaurants in Allegheny County under a temporary order.

“We’re definitely following all the rules and regulations,” DiRenzo said. “We’re going to have our servers have masks and gloves on. I’ll probably try to have all my employees test weekly if they’re able to do so.”

He said he’ll limit large groups and adhere to the three-drink maximum per customer, following the current Allegheny County regulation.

The menu will be limited, he said, for simplicity.

“We are so excited to have customers back — not just me, but all of our staff,” DiRenzo said. “I can’t wait to see everybody. I hope we can have as good of a time as we can with the restrictions in place.”

He’s also looking to make new improvements that will allow Bulldog Pub to adapt to social distancing limitations. He recently applied for a permit to put up a tent off the patio to accommodate more outdoor seating.
