Crews respond to a vehicle-pedestrian crash Thursday, April 18, 2019, in Brentwood.

A 7-year-old boy was in critical condition at a local trauma center after being struck by a pickup truck Thursday in Brentwood, according to Allegheny County police.

The collision was reported at 5:16 p.m. on Route 51 at Town Square Way.

The boy was struck by a Ford Ranger while crossing the road from the Town Square side along with his mother and a younger sibling, according to county detectives.

The child suffered several broken bones and underwent surgery for his injuries, according to Tribune-Review news partners WPXI-TV.

He is in stable condition recovering in an intensive care unit, the TV station reported.

A 27-year-old man who was driving the southbound truck in the right lane did not appear to be intoxicated and remained at the scene, police said.

Police did not say if charges would be filed.

The county’s collision reconstruction unit assisted in the investigation.
