A Pittsburgh man is accused of homicide in the May 28 death of Donovan James Goodwine.

Police said Lavaar Peters, 19, shot Goodwine in the head in the 7300 block of Forrest Way in the city’s Homewood neighborhood.

Investigators linked Peters to the shooting when two people came forward in June with information about the case, police said.

One of them shared an Instagram video with police that allegedly shows Peters talking about the crime, according to a criminal complaint filed against Peters. The person also talked about the crime with Peters, who has been in Allegheny County Jail since June 25 on unrelated charges, the complaint said.

Another person who was with Peters before and after the shooting told police that Peters was acting “weird,” shaking and quiet that night, the complaint said. When the person asked Peters if he was OK, Peters said he was “missing bullets from his gun,” police said the witness told them.

Peters is charged with criminal homicide and carrying a firearm without a license.
