Allegheny County officials reported 16 additional cases of covid-19 and two more deaths Friday, bringing the total to 1,455 confirmed or probable cases and 119 deaths countywide.

The county reported 45 cases Thursday — the biggest single-day increase in reported cases in two weeks — but attributed that increase to a delay in reporting from a new lab, officials said in a statement.

That’s compared to 10 additional cases and seven deaths reported Tuesday and 19 additional cases and two deaths reported Wednesday.

The county reported no new deaths Monday or Sunday, which could have been the result of a delay in reporting over the weekend.

The youngest person to have died from the coronavirus in Allegheny County was 42 years old and had underlying conditions, county officials said.

Of the 259 hospitalizations in recent weeks, 106 people were admitted to an ICU and 62 have required a ventilator.

More than 19,000 people have been tested countywide, according to county health department data.

Pennsylvania Department of Health officials reported 200 more deaths statewide Friday, bringing the total to 3,616. There have been 54,238 cases of the coronavirus in Pennsylvania.
