Allegheny County Health Department officials reported 127 new covid-19 cases on Sunday, with four more hospitalizations.

The new numbers marked the the third straight day of declines in new cases after a record-setting 233 cases Thursday, followed by 177 cases Friday and 150 Saturday.

The county reported no new deaths, leaving the total at 187. On Friday, the state had reported Allegheny County as having 190 deaths.

Allegheny County now has seen 3,557 cases of covid-19 since the first were reported March 14.

In the newest cases, ages ranged from 8 months to 84 years old with the median age being 30.

In all, 412 patients who tested positive for the virus have had to be hospitalized, representing nearly 12% of the county’s cases.

This is the sixth straight day of new case counts in the triple digits — something not seen in Allegheny County until this week. The new virus was first reported in Allegheny County on March 14, eight days after it was first reported in Pennsylvania.

Following Thursday’s 233 new cases, county officials ordered all bars, restaurants and casinos closed, save for takeout and delivery. That decision came days after bars and restaurants had been ordered to cease on-site alcohol consumption for the time being

County officials stressed the need for continued precautions Sunday as they released the latest reports.

“Wearing masks, washing your hands and maintaining physical distance from others is absolutely essential to keep our community safe – now more than ever. Please limit travel and errands to only those that are necessary and take the appropriate steps to protect those around you. Your vigilance can allow us to keep our businesses open and continue to support the economy,” officials said.
