Allegheny County adds 75 new coronavirus cases from tests of past 6 days

The Allegheny County Department of Health on Monday reported another day of new coronavirus cases below 100.

The county added 75 new covid-19 cases from 1,331 test results. The tests were given from Aug. 3-9. New cases range in age from 10 to 94 years, with a median age of 46 years, the county reported.

Since Aug. 1, eight of the month’s 10 days have been under 100. Last Tuesday and Thursday saw cases of 132 and 100, respectively.

The county added 1 new hospitalization and no deaths to its totals on Monday.

Allegheny County has seen 8,932 cases since the outbreak arrived locally on March 14. There have been a total of 735 hospitalizations and 259 deaths in the county.

The county’s dashboard counts 5,866 total recoveries, which is based on a calculation from the CDC based on one of two conditions: 32 days have passed after a person was hospitalized and not died; or 14 days since a positive covid-19 test and they were not hospitalized.

The county reports indicate 127,329 individuals have been tested, for a positivity rate of 7%.

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the county currently has 137 patients who are hospitalized and 32 who are on ventilators.

The county’s seven-day average of new cases as of Monday stands at 89.
