Allegheny County adds 25 coronavirus cases, total reaches 290
Allegheny County reported 25 new cases of the coronavirus Monday, bringing the countywide total to 290.
That total does not include two Allegheny County residents who have died from complications from covid-19.
More than 37,000 people across Pennsylvania have been tested for covid-19, according to figures released by the state health department Monday.
Of that total, 4,087 people have tested positive, and 48 people statewide, including the two in Allegheny County, have died from complications from covid-19.
While at least 41% of infections statewide are occurring in people between the ages of 25 and 49, the most hospitalizations — at least 49% — are occurring among people over the age of 65.
Cases in Allegheny County match those trends.
Of the 290 cases reported Monday, 128 — or 44% — were found in people ages 25 to 49.
Most of the county’s 38 hospitalizations have been among older adults, officials said.
The cases are split evenly between genders: 147 females and 143 males.
The age breakdown of cases in Allegheny County is as follows:
• 0-4: 1 (less than 1%)
• 5-12: 1 (less than 1%)
• 13-18: 5 (2%)
• 19-24: 30 (10%)
• 25-49: 128 (44%)
• 50-64: 81 (28%)
• 65+: 44 (15%)
The City of Pittsburgh has the most cases in the county, with at least 91 cases as of Sunday, according to a map displaying the locations of cases throughout the county updated daily by the Allegheny County Health Department.
That map does not include a breakdown of cases by city neighborhood or ZIP code.
Also among the municipalities reporting the highest number of cases as of Sunday are Mt. Lebanon, with at least eight cases, and McCandless, with at least 12.
