Allegheny County Police have called off a search for a car originally believed to have been tied to shootings in McKeesport and cleared its owner.

Two 15-year-old boys were shot Tuesday around 9:20 p.m. in the 900 block of Craig Street near the city’s Crawford Village housing development.

Both boys were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

A Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher said Tuesday night that police there were told to be on the lookout for two men traveling in a particular car.

Allegheny County Police Lt. Venerando Costa said in an email Wednesday night that the car’s owner was cleared by police of any involvement in the incident, and authorities no longer suspect that the car was involved.

No further information about the victims or possible suspects was released Wednesday night.

Anyone with information about the incident can contact McKeesport police at 412-675-5050 or the Allegheny County Police tip line, 833-255-8477.
