Two people are recovering at a local hospital after the vehicle they traveled in early Sunday morning toppled over a hill in Shaler, police said.

Shaler Police said in an announcement posted via Facebook they responded around 2 a.m. to the crash, which happened along the 300 block of Mt. Royal Boulevard.

At the time of the crash, police said the one of the vehicle’s occupants was critically injured and the other was seriously injured. As of 9:15 a.m., police said they were in stable condition.

Police did not identify the victims and were not available to comment.

Mt. Royal Boulevard was closed between Kenneth Drive and Byerleye Avenue as authorities worked to rescue those involved. The road reopened just after 9 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The Allegheny County Police Homicide/Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting Shaler police in the investigation.
