A man and a woman died and a child was in critical condition following a crash Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh’s Chateau neighborhood.

Two police officers were also injured while trying to pull the victims from the burning car, officials said.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said first responders went to the one-vehicle crash at Island and Beaver avenues around 4:30 p.m.

The medical examiner identified the driver as Dominick Hall, 24, and the female passenger as Lynika Barron, 24, both of Pittsburgh. Hall died at the scene, but Barron was pronounced dead at an undisclosed local hospital.

Authorities said Barron and the child were pulled from the car and taken to hospitals.

The man and a dog were dead at the scene.

Witness accounts suggest speed may have been a factor in the crash, authorities said.

A crash investigation unit was investigating. Beaver Avenue remained closed.

Further information was not immediately available.
