Pittsburgh police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday night in the city’s Crawford-Roberts neighborhood.

Pittsburgh police are looking for a suspect who shot three people Saturday night along the Crawford-Roberts and Bluff neighborhood border, killing one person and seriously injuring two others.

Police said officers and an ambulance crew were sent to the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Marion Street just before 8 p.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert that 10 shots had been fired.

The first responders found three people shot in the street. Lawrence Kelley Jr., 68, of Pittsburgh, died at UPMC Mercy Hospital around 8:15 p.m.

A second man and a woman were transported in critical condition with significant injuries. Both were immediately taken into surgery. Their names were not released.

Witnesses told police there was “some kind of altercation taking place on Fifth Avenue” before another man opened fire on the three victims. They said the shooter ran from the scene, heading north on Vine Street toward Colwell Street.

The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence, including recovered shell casings and video footage from area cameras.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.

Duquesne University, located about two blocks away, issued an alert telling students to shelter in place because the initial report said the shooting incident took place on campus. The school later sent an alert saying the incident took place at an unspecified location off campus.

It also said the incident did not involve anyone affiliated with the university.
