Photos: Pittsburgh St. Patrick's Day Parade
Thousands of green-clad revelers lined the streets of Pittsburgh on Saturday, from the corner of Liberty Avenue and Grant Street to the end of Boulevard of the Allies at Stanwix Street.
It was another cold March day for the city’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.
Pittsburgh’s parade and celebration of all things Irish is said to be the second largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the U.S., behind only Boston. Last year was marked by heavy snowfall but this year saw only a few light flurries throughout the morning.
This year’s parade featured more than 200 floats and marching groups. The 2023 parade grand marshal was Ray Werner, a Pittsburgh playwright, and the 2023 Miss Smiling Irish Eyes was Oakland Catholic High School senior Marigrace Murphy.
Pittsburgh EMS and Pittsburgh police were expected to have additional personnel on hand throughout the day in Pittsburgh’s South Side and North Side as festivities and St. Patrick’s Day bar crawls continue throughout the day.
