Penn-Trafford student art sent to India

Students in Penn-Trafford High School’s art club capped off the year by creating portraits for orphans in India.

Teacher Brenda Christeleit learned of a ‘Memory Project’ program, which enlists advanced art students to create heartfelt portraits as special gifts for children around the world who have faced war, violence, poverty, neglect, family loss or other challenges.

The PT group received digital images of five orphans in India and spent a month working on recreating the children’s faces in a variety of media — digital, watercolor and oil pastel.

The PT students participating in the project were Cody Blank, Eva Lichty, Jordan Baughman, Katie Jubec and Kate Malley.

Christeleit shipped the portraits to India on May 28.
