A playground in Manor got a fresh coat of paint and some updates thanks to a North Huntingdon teen’s Eagle Scout project.
Zebedee M. Marincic, a member of Boy Scout Troop 251 of Larimer, led the efforts to improve the playground in Mount Manor, located off Gregory Drive.
The Boy Scouts who assisted Marincic repainted the entrance gate to the playground, a handicap parking spot, parking curbs, pavilion poles and a basketball pole and rim. The Scouts also filled a crack in the basketball court and replaced the net. They repainted the bench frames on two benches and cleaned and sealed the bench slats, Marincic said.
Marincic also built a sign for the playground. That initiative was inspired by two previous Eagle Scouts in the 1980s, who did similar signs.
Borough council approved the project last year and most of the work was completed in November and was under budget, Marincic said. He had budgeted $1,680, and received donations covering $1,206of the project.
Marincic, who will be a sophomore at Norwin High School this upcoming school year, earned his Eagle Scout rank in February.
