4 new covid cases reported in the Penn-Trafford area June 1-7, 2021
The number of new covid-19 cases reported in the Penn-Trafford-Jeannette area saw a significant decline over the past week, according to data from the state Department of Health.
In all, four new covid cases were reported between June 1 and June 7 for the six ZIP codes covering most of the area, compared to 10 new cases reported from May 24 to June 1.
Since the pandemic began, the six ZIP codes have seen a total 2,122 covid-19 cases.
As of June 7, there were 1,100 confirmed coronavirus cases — up by three since June 1 — in the Jeannette 15644 ZIP code, which covers part of Penn Township. There have been 666 probable cases and 5,029 tests with negative results.
In the 15085 ZIP code, which encompasses Trafford and part of North Huntingdon, the state found 533 cases as of June 7, up by one case since June 1. There were 247 probable cases in the ZIP code and 2,133 negative test results.
In the Harrison City 15636 ZIP code, there were 270 confirmed cases as of June 7. There has been no increase since June 1. There were 155 probable cases and 1,044 negative results.
In the 15665 ZIP code for Manor, there were 110 confirmed cases, with no increase since June 1. There were 67 probable cases and 369 negative results.
In the Penn Borough 15675 ZIP code, there were 55 confirmed cases as of June 7. There was no increase since June 1. There were 36 probable cases and 255 negative results.
The Claridge 15623 ZIP code had 54 confirmed cases as of June 7. There has been no increase since June 1. There were 26 probable cases and 245 negative test results.
A significant portion of Penn Township is grouped under the Irwin 15642 ZIP code. That ZIP code has seen a total of 3,192 confirmed cases, up by nine since June 1.
During the school year, Penn-Trafford School District reported 192 covid-19 cases, according to a tracker posted on the district’s website.
Westmoreland County has had a total of 23,037 confirmed cases, 11,191 probable cases, 769 deaths and 100,149 negative tests since the start of the pandemic.
