24 new covid cases reported in Penn-Trafford area between May 3-10
New covid-19 cases reported in the Penn-Trafford-Jeannette area have continued to decline over the past several weeks, according to data from the state Department of Health.
In all, 24 new covid cases were reported between May 3-10 for the six ZIP codes covering most of the three communities. That’s compared to the 32 new cases reported between April 26 and May 3. Since the pandemic began, the six ZIP codes have seen a total of 2,086 positive covid-19 cases.
As of May 10, there were 1,077 confirmed coronavirus cases, up by 13 since May 3, in the Jeannette 15644 ZIP code, which covers part of Penn Township. There have been 651 probable cases and 4,973 coronavirus tests with negative results.
In the 15085 ZIP code, which encompasses Trafford and part of North Huntingdon, the state found 526 cases as of May 10, an increase of five cases since May 3. There were 237 probable cases in the ZIP code and 2,078 negative test results.
In the Harrison City 15636 ZIP code, there were 266 confirmed cases as of May 10, an increase of two cases since May 3. There were 152 probable cases and 1,008 negative results.
In the 15665 ZIP code for Manor, there were 108 confirmed cases, an increase of two cases since May 3. There were 65 probable cases and 366 negative results.
In the Penn Borough 15675 ZIP code, there were 55 confirmed cases as of May 10. There was no increase since May 3. There were 36 probable cases and 247 negative results.
The Claridge 15623 ZIP code had 54 confirmed cases, an increase of two cases since May 3. There were 25 probable cases and 247 negative test results.
A significant portion of Penn Township is grouped under the Irwin 15642 ZIP code. That ZIP code has seen a total of 3,120 confirmed cases, up by 28 since May 3.
Penn-Trafford School District reported a total of 192 covid cases since the school year began, with three active cases as of May 10.
Westmoreland County has had a total of 22,595 confirmed cases, 10,752 probable cases, 748 deaths and 97,159 negative tests since the start of the pandemic.
