11 new covid cases reported in Penn-Trafford area, May 10-17, 2021

The number of new covid-19 cases reported in the Penn-Trafford-Jeannette area continue to decline, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

In all, 11 new covid cases were reported between May 10-17 for the six ZIP codes covering most of the area. That’s compared to the 24 new cases reported between May 3-10. Since the pandemic began, the six ZIP codes have seen a total of 2,097 positive covid-19 cases.

As of May 17, there were 1,084 confirmed coronavirus cases, up by seven since May 10, in the Jeannette 15644 ZIP code, which covers part of Penn Township. There have been 656 probable cases and 4,966 tests with negative results.

In the 15085 ZIP code, which encompasses Trafford and part of North Huntingdon, the state found 526 cases as of May 17. There has been no increase since May 10. There were 240 probable cases in the ZIP code and 2,096 negative test results.

In the Harrison City 15636 ZIP code, there were 269 confirmed cases as of May 17, an increase of three cases since May 10. There were 153 probable cases and 1,022 negative results.

In the 15665 ZIP code for Manor, there were 109 confirmed cases, an increase of one case since May 10. There were 67 probable cases and 366 negative results.

In the Penn Borough 15675 ZIP code, there were 55 confirmed cases as of May 17. There was no increase since May 10. There were 36 probable cases and 247 negative results.

The Claridge 15623 ZIP code had 54 confirmed cases as of May 17. There has been no increase since May 10. There were 25 probable cases and 244 negative test results.

A significant portion of Penn Township is grouped under the Irwin 15642 ZIP code. That ZIP code has seen a total of 3,144 confirmed cases, up by 24 since May 10.

Penn-Trafford School District reported a total of 192 covid cases since the school year began. There are no active cases.

Westmoreland County has had a total of 22,772 confirmed cases, 10,880 probable cases, 758 deaths and 98,038 negative tests since the start of the pandemic.
