11 new covid cases reported in Penn-Trafford area, May 17-24, 2021
The number of new covid-19 cases reported in the Penn-Trafford-Jeannette area have remained steady, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
In all, 11 new covid cases were reported between May 17-24 for the six ZIP codes covering most of the area, the same amount reported between May 10-17.
Since the pandemic began, the six ZIP codes have seen a total of 2,108 positive covid-19 cases.
As of May 24, there were 1,089 confirmed coronavirus cases — up by five since May 17 — in the Jeannette 15644 ZIP code, which covers part of Penn Township. There have been 661 probable cases and 4,984 tests with negative results.
In the 15085 ZIP code, which encompasses Trafford and part of North Huntingdon, the state found 530 cases as of May 24, up by four cases since May 17. There were 244 probable cases in the ZIP code and 2,112 negative test results.
In the Harrison City 15636 ZIP code, there were 270 confirmed cases as of May 24, an increase of one case since May 17. There were 153 probable cases and 1,030 negative results.
In the 15665 ZIP code for Manor, there were 110 confirmed cases, and increase of one case since May 17. There were 67 probable cases and 370 negative results.
In the Penn Borough 15675 ZIP code, there were 55 confirmed cases as of May 24. There was no increase since May 17. There were 36 probable cases and 249 negative results.
The Claridge 15623 ZIP code had 54 confirmed cases as of May 24. There has been no increase since May 17. There were 25 probable cases and 246 negative test results.
A significant portion of Penn Township is grouped under the Irwin 15642 ZIP code. That ZIP code has seen a total of 3,168 confirmed cases, up by 24 since May 17.
Penn-Trafford School District reported a total of 192 covid cases since the school year began. There are no active cases.
Westmoreland County has had a total of 22,898 confirmed cases, 11,066 probable cases, 762 deaths and 98,842 negative tests since the start of the pandemic.
