St. Joseph School in Verona celebrates 'Catholic Schools Week'
Catholic Schools Week is in full swing at St. Joseph Catholic School in Verona.
The school began its celebration Jan. 26 by hosting a family fun night where teachers cooked for 150 guests. On Jan. 28, the school held “Sundae Monday,” where students were treated to ice cream treats.
The school will host various events throughout the week, including a performance of the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and a Valentine card decorating day, said Julie Madera, the school’s parent teachers group president.
St. Joseph Catholic School has 107 students enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade, according to its website.
Catholic Schools Week, sponsored by the National Catholic Educational Association, is a national celebration of Catholic education that began in 1974. This year’s celebration is from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2.
