Two members have been selected from three Democrat candidates to run for Penn Hills Council in November. According to unofficial election results from the Allegheny County Office of Elections, newcomers Kimberly “Kim” Refosco, 45, and Ian Cartwright, 47, will be in the competition for two four-year term seats.
Uncontested in the primary, Stephen Zelahy will be the lone Republican on the November ballot.
Refosco claimed the most votes with 3,697 while Cartwright received 2,674.
Both beat Frank Pecora, 66, who garnered 2,394 votes.
Refosco previously told TribLive that, if elected, she plans to address community concerns surrounding issues such as maintaining affordable home ownership, supporting local businesses, beautifying roads, parks and vacant spaces and doing so in a balanced, affordable way.
If elected, Cartwright said he hopes to encourage an increase of homeownership in the community.
“We are a bedroom community. It is bad for the community that there are a handful of corporations buying the majority of the homes,” he previously told TribLive.
