A Penn Hills man was shot outside his home early Friday morning.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 12:20 a.m. along the 400 block of Hamil Road near New Life Community Ministries Church.

Police Chief Howard Burton said the victim initially refused medical treatment, but was eventually taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The injury is believed to be non-lifethreatening.

Officers have no suspects and little to go on at this point, and the victim is not talking.

“He’s not being cooperative,” Burton said. “He shows up at his house, drives down the driveway into his garage and someone starts shooting at him.”

Allegheny County Police have taken over the investigation. Anyone with information about the shooting can contact county police at 412-473-3000 or Penn Hills police at 412-342-1188.
