Penn Hills preparing for Summerfest
Penn Hills Parks and Recreation is gearing up for its fifth-annual Summerfest coming Aug. 3.
“It’s a positive event for our community,” said John Scaglione, assistant superintendent of the municipality’s public works and parks and recreation departments. “We’d like to bring some good news to Penn Hills. This is a great event the whole family can come out to.”
The Penn Hills Summerfest will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Aug. 3 at Turner Friendship Park along Hunter Road.
There will be games, food trucks, live music, a petting zoo and fireworks.
Scaglione said people can expect traditional carnival games and the petting zoo will include miniature horses, donkeys, mules, miniature llamas, sheep, goats, bunnies, ducks and chickens.
There will also be bounce houses, he said.
This Indecision, a Pittsburgh rock cover band, will headline the festival – hitting the stage at 8 p.m. and playing until the fireworks are ignited, around 9:20 p.m.
Other acts include Evan Dean, Elias Khori Band and Royce Band.
The food will come from local food trucks, including Truckin’ Fresh, Oakmont BBQ, Vagabond Tacos, Bulldawgs and Brusters Ice Cream.
The event is free and open to the public.
