Costumed pups and their owners dodged the rain Oct. 12 for a Dog Night of Howl-O-Ween event at Steel Goat Marketplace in Penn Hills.

Local animal rescue organizations were on hand to provide information about their offerings, including the Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pennsylvania Rescue, PAWSitive Voice, A Little Bit of Snuggles Dog Rescue, Monroeville Animal Shelter and Starlight Strays Sanctuary.

The event included pet adoptions, games, giveaways, a Halloween-themed photo booth, live demonstrations and a lot of treats.

There also was a pet parade and costume contest, as well as a raffle with baskets donated from the rescue organizations.
