2 people carjacked in Hill District, police say — with 1 person still inside
Pittsburgh police said two people were carjacked early Wednesday in the city’s Hill District neighborhood.
Police said they were alerted at 1:15 a.m. about the incident on the 2900 block of Bedford Avenue.
A woman in the car was able to exit the vehicle before the three suspects drove off, police said. A man in the car was not able get out in time, but police said that likely helped them track down the stolen vehicle — to the Penn Hills area.
The female victim called the police after it was stolen, and police said that’s when they tracked the male victim’s cellphone.
Police said the vehicle at one point reportedly drove past some Penn Hills officers and the suspects then pulled over and bailed out of the vehicle. The male victim was left in the car.
The man, who reported no injuries, contacted Penn Hills police.
No arrests have been made and Pittsburgh police are handling the investigation.
