Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a male suspect in the Monday afternoon shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Penn Hills.
According to authorities, the boy was shot multiple times near the gas pump of a BP station.
Penn Hills Police Chief Howard Burton said the shooting took place at the intersection of Frankstown Road and Robinson Boulevard.
Burton said the suspect is believed to have fled on foot toward the East Hills housing development near the Penn Hills-Pittsburgh border.
Allegheny County Police said the incident was reported at about 4:30 p.m. They said the boy was shot in the torso and was reported in critical condition at an area hospital.
County detectives, who have taken over the investigation, released an image of a suspect, caught on video fleeing the scene, and are asking the public to help identify him.
Police said the suspect is Black, between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall and has a slender build. He was wearing a hood with a mask, gray pants and a long-sleeve black shirt with a graphic image on the front.
