Allegheny County Police said one person is dead after an attempted murder-suicide in Penn Hills on Tuesday.

A woman was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday night after Allegheny County Police said she was shot in an attempted murder-suicide.

Authorities said they were notified of the shooting on Thon Drive around 9:30 p.m. They reported finding a 41-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds and a 50-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators said they believe the man shot the woman before turning the gun on himself. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office had not released his name as of early Wednesday. Tribune-Review news partner WTAE-TV reported that the two people involved were married and children were led out of the home as police investigated.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the county police tip line at 833-255-8477.
