A man who barricaded himself inside a home in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny neighborhood surrendered to police early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a domestic incident inside a home on the 400 block of Suismon Street shortly after midnight, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety Spokeswoman Cara Cruz.

A woman was able to safely leave the home, but a man “barricaded himself inside and refused to come out,” Cruz said.

The man, who was not identified, had access to weapons and was wanted on a warrant and violation of a protection from abuse order.

A SWAT team was called to scene out of an abundance of caution, Cruz said.

Police made several calls for the man to come out. After more than an hour, he eventually surrendered to police and was arrested without incident.

Medics assessed the woman on scene.
