Officials ID woman killed in double fatal Route 28 wrong-way crash
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has identified one of two people killed in a wrong-way crash on Route 28 near Pittsburgh’s North Side Saturday morning.
Kapinga Madeleine Mulumba, 45, of Pittsburgh was a passenger in one of the two vehicles in the crash that was reported just after 7:15 a.m.
Mulumba was pronounced dead at the scene. The man driving the vehicle she was riding in was last known to be hospitalized in critical condition. A police spokeswoman could not update his condition on Sunday.
The driver of the other vehicle, which was in flames when first responders arrived, also died at the scene. He has not yet been identified.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes between the 31st Street Bridge and East Ohio Street. Police said one of the vehicles was heading in the wrong direction, against traffic.
No updates on the investigation were yet available.
