Irwin Borough this month approved pay hikes for some of its its non-union officials, including the police chief and borough manager, as part of the 2023 budget.

The increases represent a raise of about 7%, said Shari Martino, whose salary as borough manager will increase to $60,737, an increase from $56,238.

Police Chief Dan Wensel will be the highest-paid administrator at $77,500, an increase from $71,760 for 2022.

Assistant manager Katelind Sartori, who was promoted to the position in October, will be paid $45,501, the same as this year. Sartori became assistant manager when Stacie Santimyer resigned.

Randy Altman, public works director, will be paid $55,063, a raise from $51,946. Matt Sever, code enforcement officer and assistant public works manager, will be paid $45,501, a raise from $39,198. Federal guidelines required the borough the raise Sever’s salary to keep him as a salaried employee, rather than an hourly employee eligible for overtime pay, Martino said.

Solicitor Zachary Kansler, who splits his time between legal duties for Greensburg and Irwin, will be paid $37,110, a raise from $35,009.

Stephanie Hughes, the billing, lien and code enforcement assistant clerk, will be paid $18.10 an hour, the same rate as when she was hired on Dec. 6. Hughes replaced Sartori in that position.

Ralph DiBridge, meter enforcement officer, will be paid $15.60 an hour.

Harff Light Show continues

The Harff Musical Christmas Light Show has returned for its 17th year at 1907 Bernice Drive in the Markvue Manor neighborhood of North Huntingdon, featuring 20 songs programmed to lights on the family’s property.

Programmed by Tim Harff, the display is illuminated from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Jan. 1.

Donations will be accepted for the North Huntingdon nonprofit Jamie’s Dream Team, which fulfills the wishes of ill children. More information can be found at jamiesdreamteam.org.
