Norwin area: Nature festival set at Irwin Park; West Newton library to hold book sale

Rubber duck race fundraiser slated

The Natural Festival at Irwin Park, featuring food, music, face painting, games, raffle prizes and the annual Rubber Duck Race, will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. June 24 at the park off Pennsylvania Avenue and Main Street.

The ducks can be purchased for $5 each at the Irwin Borough office, 424 Main St., and at Westmoreland Conservation District, Donohoe Road, Hempfield, or by calling 724-837-5271.

The ducks will be floated at Irwin Park in a tributary of Tinker’s Run.

The proceeds will benefit the Turtle Creek Watershed Association and Irwin Borough.

West Newton library to hold book sale

The West Newton Public Library will be hold a book sale at the library parking lot, 124 N. Water St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 during the West Newton Yard sale.

Volunteers are needed to set up tables and boxes of books from the storage unit before the sale and return tables to storage after the event.
