Norwin library to hold book sale
The Friends of the Norwin Public Library will hold a book sale from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. Feb. 2 in the lower level of the library, 100 Caruthers Lane, Irwin.
Entrance is through the door at the lower level parking lot.
Children’s Miracle Network fundraiser slated
A fundraiser featuring raffles and chances to win handbags and designer purses will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 5 at Antonelli Event Center, 100 Colony Drive, Irwin.
The Hearts & Handbags Designer Purse Bash & Luncheon to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals will feature drawings for a designer purse every 15 minutes. There will be a basket raffle prize, special purse drawings, lunch, a Louis Vuitton drawing, lunch and cocktails.

The Sam’s Club in Hempfield is sponsoring the event, which is being held in support of 11-year-old Brady Kellerman, a fifth grade student at Hillcrest Intermediate School who has suffered from heart disease.
Steelers book author to speak at Norwin library
Norwin High School graduate Jim Wexell will talk about covering the Pittsburgh Steelers for the past 28 years and about his new book, “On The Clock: Pittsburgh Steelers,” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 8 at the Norwin Public Library, Caruthers Lane, Irwin.
Wexell explores the rollercoaster history of the Steelers at the draft, from Super Bowl-winning quarterback Terry Bradshaw through Hall-of-Famer Troy Polamalu and behind the scenes in the draft decision-making.

Church plans Night at the Races fundraiser
Food and prizes will be featured at the annual Night at the Races fundraiser on Feb. 11 in Our Lady’s Plaza at Immaculate Conception Church, 309 Second St., Irwin.
The doors open at 5:15 p.m. and the races begin at 6 p.m.
There will be a raffle and raffle baskets.
Norwin library plans genealogy class
A class on searching marriage records will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Norwin Public Library, Caruthers Lane, Irwin.
The 90-minute “Love and Marriage Genealogy Class”offers a fresh look at traditional marriage records and the clues found in nontraditional records.
