Lake Shore Drive within North Park in McCandless will be closed to vehicular, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic starting at 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31 for slope stabilization work, the county Parks Department announced Oct. 24.
The closure is expected to end in December.
Park visitors will not be able to access any facilities, including playgrounds, adjacent to Lake Shore Drive other than the J.C. Stone Field parking lot. Shelters accessed from the road will not be available to rent during the closure.
There will be no posted detours. However, drivers are encouraged to use Walter Road to get around the closure. Cyclists and pedestrians looking for an alternate paved route within the park should consider using South Ridge Drive.
The project will be done in-house by crews from the Parks Department and Department of Public Works.
